Cambodian Prime Minister Highlights Youth's Integral Role in National Development

Phnom Penh, March 14, 2024: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has emphasized the pivotal role of the country's youth in driving national development across all sectors. He commended the younger generation for both preserving the achievements of their predecessors and laying a solid foundation for future generations.

The Prime Minister's remarks were made during the closing ceremony of the Central Committee Meeting of the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) 2024, held on the morning of March 14, 2024, at Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh. The meeting served as a crucial platform for leaders and members of the UYFC to reflect on past accomplishments, address shortcomings, and tackle challenges, as well as to share ideas and best practices to strive for new successes for the country.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister highlighted the youth's significant involvement in various national development initiatives. He stressed the importance of adopting strategies that appeal to young people's sense of innovation, creativity, and flexibility, aiming to motivate them to contribute to Cambodia's journey towards peace, prosperity, and the establishment of a robust, independent, and democratic society with high productivity, which are essential for bolstering the national economy.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister acknowledged the youth's efforts in perpetuating a spirit of positive influence, fostering an attitude of national pride, and a deep-seated love for their homeland. This engagement aligns with the Royal Government's implementation of the Pentagon Strategy - Phase 1, which outlines "policy programs" and "key measures" guiding Cambodia's ambition to become a high-income country by 2050.

He lauded the UYFC leadership at all levels, as well as its members from the central to grassroots levels, for their active and effective participation in executing the "Youth Strategic Plan for the Motherland Cause 2023-2028". This plan embodies a strong sense of unity, brotherhood, collective thinking, shared responsibility, and commitment to advancing the youth movement for the benefit of the nation, its people, and the motherland.
